Business owners that don’t have a mobile friendly site might want to consider getting one!
On April 21st 2015 Google has updated their searching algorithm to prioritize mobile friendly sites,
Since most of people use mobile devices to access the internet.
What actually changes?
After April 21 the update might take weeks. Searches on Google from mobile devices will no longer show the most popular, organic results; instead, the most popular, mobile-friendly websites will appear.
Why mobile friendly matters?
In 2015 there were more mobile users than desktop users by 200 million people.
This means sales might be affected.
- 72 percent of consumers who searched for local information on their smartphone visited a store within 10km.
- 50 percent of consumers who conducted a local search on their smartphone visited a store within a day.
The 8 second challenge, theoretically when a potential customer visits your website for the first time your site has 8 seconds to attract the sale. By not having a mobile friendly website, the chance of making that sale it will be very slim.
